NOUNS THAT SHOW POSSESSION
A possessive noun shows ownership. It tells to what or to whom another nouns
belongs. Here are the rules for writing
possessive nouns.
- To form the possessive of a singular noun, add an apostrophe and s.
Examples:
teacher – teacher’s Charles – Charles’s night
– night’s
- There are two rules for forming the possessive of plural nouns.
- If a plural noun ends in s, simply add an apostrophe after the s.
- If a plural noun does not end in s, add an apostrophe and an s.
